Hi

I’m Matthew, an educator and a writer

My name is Matthew, and I’m both an educator and a writer. Ideally, I would like to bring those two passions together by teaching writing to students. I’ve always been drawn to language and deeply believe in Margaret Atwood’s idea that “in the end, we’ll all become stories.” I love helping students learn to tell their own—because, in doing so, they begin to understand the power of language and how to use it for something greater.

I’ve worked as a high school English teacher, a criminal defense trial attorney, and a tutor. While these paths may seem distinct, they are connected by a common thread which includes a drive to grow, to communicate with purpose, and to leave a meaningful impact on the world around me.

Please take a moment to explore my digital portfolio. As you browse, I hope you will not only see the range of my research and writing skills but also catch a glimpse of who I am as both a writer and an educator. Thank you for stopping by.
